Employees from Terex®, a global manufacturer with sites across Northern Ireland including Dungannon and Omagh, have raised £2,243 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, continuing a fundraising campaign launched in memory of local man Cahir O’Hagan, who sadly passed away from the condition in October 2023.
The money was raised through fundraising activities at the recent Hillhead 2026 exhibition, a UK quarrying show where the EvoQuip (a Terex brand) team came together to support the cause as part of the brand’s 10-year anniversary celebrations.
The fundraiser was organised by Paul O’Hagan, Business Development Manager for EvoQuip at the Terex Dungannon site, in honour of his younger brother Cahir, who lived with Cystic Fibrosis throughout his life. First launched at Hillhead 2024, the initiative was created to celebrate Cahir’s life while raising awareness and funds for those affected by the disease. The original campaign raised £2,050, with this year’s effort bringing the total raised through EvoQuip’s Hillhead fundraisers to £4,293.
Cahir was widely known among family and friends for his determination, humour and positive outlook on life. Despite facing the daily challenges of Cystic Fibrosis, he remained passionate about sport and played Gaelic football and hurling with local clubs Clonoe O’Rahillys and Naomh Colum Cille whenever his health allowed.
Speaking about the fundraiser, Paul said, “On behalf of my family and myself, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated and supported this year’s fundraiser. The support shown by colleagues across our Terex sites, along with our dealers, customers and industry friends, has been incredible.
“What started as a way of honouring Cahir’s memory has become something that continues to support a cause that means so much to our family. Knowing that his story is helping to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and support vital research means a great deal to us.”
Launching the original fundraiser in 2024, Paul shared how witnessing his brother’s lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis inspired him to become an advocate for greater awareness, research and support. Throughout his life, Cahir underwent extensive daily treatments and frequent hospital stays, yet remained an inspiration to those around him through his resilience and refusal to let the condition define him.
Paul added, “Cahir never allowed Cystic Fibrosis to define who he was. He faced every challenge with courage and determination and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. We are proud to continue supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in his memory and hope these fundraising efforts will make a real difference for families affected by the condition.”
All funds raised have been donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, supporting its work to fund research, improve care and support to individuals and families living with the condition.
