Manufacturing NI recently held a very useful briefing from The Department for Communities on the range of work support programmes including the JobStart, The Condition Management Programme and the Work Experience Programme. We were joined by Leo Quinn and Myrtle Black from the Health and Work Support Programmes and Stephen McGlew from Jobstart at Department for Communities to look at supports that are available to manufacturing firms.
For those companies looking help with recruitment and having difficulties accessing the labour market, we would highly recommend that you contact the Strategic Employment Service, also managed through the Department for Communities and which acts as a gateway for employers for recruitment and labour market needs. Some of the services they offer include;
– Providing advice on recruitment needs
– Promotion of vacancies through DfC social platforms and network of 35 regional offices and free recruitment site at https://employersonlineni.com
– Support and advice on recruiting people with disabilities
– Referrals to DfC programmes and/or redundancy services
