The UK Government has launched a new call for input on a potential second package of temporary tariff suspensions aimed at reducing pressure on household and business costs.

The consultation, launched by the Department for Business and Trade on 27 May 2026, is seeking views on suspending tariffs on a range of agricultural products, fertilisers and kerosene.

According to Government, the proposals are being considered in response to inflationary pressures linked to ongoing instability in the Middle East and rising global commodity and energy prices.

The consultation follows an earlier package of temporary tariff suspensions announced in April 2026 and forms part of wider efforts to reduce costs for consumers and businesses.

The latest package under consideration includes a broad range of foodstuffs and consumer essentials, alongside selected fertilisers and kerosene products. Government has stated that any final decisions will balance consumer benefit against impacts on domestic producers, food security and wider supply chain considerations.

For manufacturers, agri-food businesses and supply chain operators, the consultation may be particularly relevant where imported raw materials, ingredients, fuels or production inputs are exposed to UK Global Tariff duties.

The Government is inviting views from affected businesses, representative organisations and wider stakeholders on:

  • Products proposed for tariff suspension;
  • Potential impacts on domestic industry;
  • Supply chain implications;
  • Alternative products that should be considered for suspension.

The consultation closes at 11:59pm on 24 June 2026.

Businesses can respond directly through the online consultation process or by email submission to the Department for Business and Trade.
