Manufacturers considering investment in electric vehicle EV infrastructure may want to take note of two UK Government funding schemes currently available.
The Workplace Charging Scheme offers a straightforward route for businesses to install EV charge points, covering up to 75% of costs, capped at £500 per socket. While relatively modest, it provides an accessible option for staff and light vehicle charging.
More significant is the Depot Charging Scheme, which supports larger scale infrastructure for fleet operations. The scheme will fund up to 70% of charge point and civil works, with grants of up to £1 million available per organisation.
While primarily aimed at logistics and transport operators, businesses operating their own fleets from a central site may also be eligible. This is likely to be of particular interest to manufacturers managing company vehicles or distribution fleets.
The first application window is now open and will close on 30 June 2026, or earlier if funding is fully allocated.
Manufacturers exploring fleet electrification or site based charging infrastructure should review the scheme details and assess eligibility as soon as possible.
