BSI Group have now published the new standard BS 30480 ‘suicide and the workplace’. This standard is free to download.
BS 30480 Suicide and the workplace – Guide is the UK’s first standard dedicated to workplace intervention and support for people affected by suicide. The standard is a guide for workplaces and aims to bring together best practices, ensure consistency, and help organizations reduce risk.
It is freely available and accessible to all types and sizes of organizations, and the standard aims to:
- Support organisations in identifying and managing suicide risk in the workplace
- Provide guidance for prevention and intervention best practices
- Strengthen workplace policies and culture around suicide awareness
- Offer clear approaches to support and communicate with staff and an employee’s family after suicide loss
