The UK Government has announced significant changes to it migration regime, particularly around the Skilled Worker Visa’s route, to come into effect on 22 July.

Over the past week we (and indeed our local Department for the Economy) have been trying to get some clarity around these rules, specifically around pay levels for those currently with a Certificate of Sponsorship and those who are renewed post-July 22nd.

We have asked both the Home Office and the Northern Ireland Office to provide an opportunity to learn more and to put their questions directly to Government but as yet they have not provided the necessary guidance online or a chance for employers to be ‘in the room’ with them.

We will continue to ask.

In the meantime, there are likely actions which are important for your business to take, particularly for those who are already here and who may be en route to your business.  This insight from the law firm Lewis Silken whilst not specific legal advice is likely useful:

How can we help?
