Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, has launched a Market Sounding Survey to support plans for a new Public Service Obligation (PSO) air service between Dublin and Derry, expected to commence in 2026.
The proposed service aims to improve connectivity for the North West, particularly ahead of planned upgrades to the A5 road corridor. Your feedback will help shape the service, including aircraft type, capacity, frequency, scheduling and fares.
Minister O’Brien said the initiative supports the Government’s commitment to improving transport links in underserved regions and strengthening connections under the Shared Island programme. The service would provide Derry-Londonderry and North East Donegal with a subsidised air link to Dublin, complementing the existing Donegal–Dublin PSO route.
Survey closes: 31 January 2026
