This information is for firms who move standard goods into Northern Ireland using the Trader Support Service. The last declaration you need to submit to complete the import declaration process is the Supplementary declaration. Please note, if you are moving controlled/SPS goods, this does not apply to you. The functionality to submit supplementary declarations for controlled goods will be released shortly and TSS will contact you when it is available.

Depending on when you moved your standard goods into NI, there are different approaches to take for submission of the supplementary declaration:

  1. Goods moved between 1 Jan – 15 Feb

If you moved standard goods into NI before we introduced the new supplementary declaration digital service on 15 Feb, you do not need to take any action yet as we are taking a phased approach to submission of your supplementary declarations. We will keep you informed about when you will be required to submit supplementary declaration information into TSS for these movements. We will give you plenty of notice before we ask you to do this, so you should wait to hear from us before attempting to submit a supplementary declaration for those goods. This helps us to ensure that the new service is working well, and that we can give you the right support and customs expertise to guide you through this process.

In the meantime, you may wish to prepare now by accessing the educational material listed below to understand the requirements.

  1. Goods moved between 15 Feb – Present

If you moved standard goods into NI since 15 Feb, you should complete your supplementary declaration by 4 March if you can. If you are unable to do so, the TSS will be in contact soon to give you more help and to work with you to declare your goods as soon as possible. HMRC are taking a supportive approach and will not penalise those businesses trying to get it right and have agreed this approach.

TSS can be contacted via portal (link) or on 0800 060 8888. Our opening hours are 7:30am – 10:30-pm.
We are here to support you.
