In November, the Finance Minister announced a business rates refund for manufacturers. We are very pleased to say that the necessary legislation has passed through the NI Assembly meaning that manufacturers who are in receipt of industrial derating have now had their rates liability for the 2020/21 year reduced to zero.
For those manufacturers who have made payments towards their rates bills during this year, Land and Property Services have begun to issue physical cheques back to your business. Any manufacturer with unpaid balances from previous years will have any money paid in the 2020/21 year written off against those arrears first and any residual balance issued back to your business.
As of today some 1,500 manufacturers will have received their repayment cheque with the others being issued over the next 3 weeks.
