Employers of all sizes, in all sectors, can apply for JobStart funding to cover wage costs to employ young people for a period of 6 months (or 9 months if applicable) for 25 hours per week at the National Minimum Wage. Employers will also receive £1,500 towards training, equipment and set up costs.
The Work Experience Programme offers participants the chance to gain employability skills in a work setting with an employer or a voluntary organisation. Employers can receive £250 for providing a placement. An additional £250 is also available to employers who offers a placement to participants who meet certain eligibility criteria.
The Department’s Health & Work Support Programmes provides a number of schemes and programmes to support people with disabilities to remain in employment and also provides support to help employers recruit people who have health issues or disabilities. This support also aims to help employers retain staff if they become ill or disabled whilst in employment.
