Almac Group, the global contract pharmaceutical development and manufacturing organisation, is delighted to announce that six of the organisation’s employees from across the Group have achieved the prestigious Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) designation, after completing an intensive study and training programme delivered by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply. The MCIPS distinction is an internationally recognised qualification that represents the global standard within the profession for procurement and supply professionals.
The programme was the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland and was tailored specifically to meet the complex requirements of the Group. The Almac cohort members began their journey towards this distinction in September 2018, beginning at “Practitioner” level, followed by an 18-month period at “Advanced Practitioner” level. During this time, cohort members participated in interactive workshops to bring views and opinions from across the supply chain, mastered practical assignments on concepts learned within the areas of Strategic Supply, Category Management and Contracting Excellence and completed live business projects which facilitated the implementation of measurable improvements directly into the Almac organisation.
Participants of this intensive program, who have graduated with professional qualification and the designation ‘MCIPS’ are:
• Aidan Reynolds
• Michael Rainey
• Peter Livingstone
• Linda Tug
• Deborah Thompson
• Andrew Hughes
Support from Almac and Invest Northern Ireland made this cohort of the Chartered Advanced Practitioner Programme possible. In addition to the six Almac participants, a participant from Northern Ireland Water also joined the cohort, making it viable for the programme to be delivered locally in Northern Ireland.
Commented Thomas Crawford, Group Head of Procurement, Almac Group, “Almac fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement and it is therefore always a priority for us to seek avenues to develop our employees professionally. We are delighted that, with the support of Invest Northern Ireland, we have supported the development of our Procurement team through the pursuit of the internationally recognised award that represents the global standard for procurement professionals. After three rigorous years of study, we congratulate our Graduates on a job well done and look forward to the improvements they will promote within our organisation.”
