This is taking place in Belfast on August 16th.
We are writing to you to advise that the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is currently gathering evidence from businesses on their short-term travel to the European . BEIS wishes to conduct interviews with businesses in Northern Ireland to ensure regional perspectives are captured and has asked the Department for the Economy NI to host and facilitate this engagement.
As part of the UK Government’s preparations for the future relationship between the EU and the UK, BEIS is undertaking further engagement to look at businesses’ priorities for their employees’ short-term business travel to the EU, identify the kinds of activities employees undertaken on short term business visits to the EU and preferences for different features of administrative systems governing travel. BEIS has advised that the information business provides will be used to shape the UK’s future business mobility framework with the EU.
What does participation involve?
Participation will involve representatives from businesses taking part in one to one research interviews with BEIS, face to face or alternatively by phone, lasting approximately one hour.
Your views, alongside those of other businesses, will be compiled in summary report form. The report will be used to inform policy development and brief senior government officials within BEIS and may be shared with other government departments, and possibly with a wider audience through public Ministerial speeches. We can either attribute your views to you, and your business, or we can keep these anonymous; you will be able to tell us which option you prefer before the interview.“
What happens next?
If business is involved in making frequent short term business visits to the EU (for purposes similar to those outlined in the attached document or these are a vital part of the business model, BEIS would be interested in their views.
