Making it easier to get ahead
Manufacturers are being helped by Invest NI to get ahead of competitors through easier access to funds to develop new products. Invest NI’s new ‘ for R&D’ programme, announced by Enterprise minister Arlene Foster, with funding from the European Regional Development Programme, offers a £50 million fund for new product development.
Companies can also draw on expert advice from dedicated Innovation Advisors to guide then in turning ideas into new products. It is open to companies regardless of size.
Ms Foster said: “ for R&D’ offers a user-friendly, holistic approach, combining financial support with practical advice from innovation experts. It is another example of the practical support and initiatives that the agency is bringing forward to help local businesses cope with the current economic challenges.
“Such measures will help ensure that companies are well placed to take advantage of the opportunities available when global market conditions improve.”
