Important Energia Group announcement
Following the recent rebranding of Energia Group (previously known as Viridian Group), and as part of a corporate restructuring, all Energia commercial customers with a supply address in Northern Ireland will be transferring to Power NI, Energia’s sister company, on 1 October 2019.
Why is this change happening?
Following privatisation in the 1990s, the regulatory framework encouraged the development of two competing supply companies in the local marketplace, despite being part of the same Group.
However, in recent years this landscape has changed, and that arrangement is no longer the most efficient. Going forward Power NI is the single brand the Group will use in Northern Ireland, while the Energia brand will continue to be used in the Republic of Ireland.
How will this impact existing Energia customers?
There will be minimal impact as from 1 October their tariffs will remain the same, under the existing Terms and Conditions. All other account details and any Direct Debit arrangements will also remain unaffected. If they were previously in a contract with Energia, this will transfer over to Power NI, with the same rates and dates in place. Other than a change in branding, their bills and letters will look practically the same as they do now.
We have consulted with the Utility Regulator regarding this change and Energia are presently notifying all affected customers.
