Financial assistance from DEL when recruiting unemployed or economically inactive
The Department for Employment & Learning pays a financial subsidy to employers in Northern Ireland to assist with the cost of recruiting new employees, to fill full or part time vacancies, who have previously been unemployed or economically inactive for 13 weeks or more.
The Employer Subsidy covers the first 26 weeks of employment and is payable on a 4 weekly basis in arrears. The amount of subsidy depends on the age of the employee and whether the position is full time or part time. The rates are as follows:
· £60 per week for an employee aged 18 to 24 years recruited to a full time vacancy. This equates to £1,560 over the 26 week period;
· £40 per week between for an employee aged 18 to 24 years recruited to a part time vacancy (i.e. 6 and 29 hours per week). This equates to £1,040 over the 26 week period;
· £75 per week for an employee aged 25 or over recruited to a full time vacancy (This equates to £1,950 over the 26 week period);
· £50 per week for an employee aged 25 or over recruited to a part time vacancy (ie16 and 29 hours per week). This equates to £1,300 over the 26 week period.
