East Border Region (Representing 10 Local Authorities detailed below) hopes to secure EU INTERREG IVA funding for a range of Business Support activities focusing on Innovation and advising small businesses how Innovation can assist them on a very practical level to become more competitive, develop new products, or to enter new markets. The programme will be implemented on a cross border basis across the Council areas of; Ards, Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Down, North Down, Newry & Mourne, Louth and Monaghan and it is expected that at least 360 local businesses will receive support over a 2 ½ year period. This Programme has been designed specifically to meet the needs of small and micro businesses, those companies who cannot currently access support from Invest NI or Enterprise Ireland. There are a number of sub themes providing specialist support and advice to entrepreneurs and business depending on the particular business needs;
Theme A – Awareness Raising – What does Innovation actually mean? A series of localised roadshows, clinics and workshops will be held to explain exactly what innovation means, but more importantly, how can Innovation help your business. Cost to attend - £100 Theme B – Are you unemployed, underemployed, a student? Do you have an Innovative idea but are not sure if it has potential as a new Business? This Programme will help to take the risk out of starting a new business venture. Specialist mentoring, training and market research will assist you in deciding if your idea has genuine potential as a business. Cost to participate - £200 (up to 2 ½ years support provided) Theme C – How can Innovation help by Business? A dedicated mentor will be assigned to your business to help you identify and address an Innovation Challenge, expert advice will be provided to work with you to make your business more competitive, profitable, and ultimately more sustainable.
