Agenda 2017 is a summation of the work that Manufacuturing NI has undertaken over the last year, as well as the challanges that lay ahead and the sucesses that our members have celebrated. We focus on key areas of focus that we need for Northern Ireland to turn into an environment that can help the sector grow.
Local and world events have created turmoil but despite this Manufacturing NI has continued to deliver real results on behalf of the sector and the 85,000 people it directly employs.
We have secured a commitment from local politicians to continue industrial rates relief, which saves some £58m per year; we have seen further cuts in electricity costs and some movement on supporting skills and market development for the manufacturing sector. Our work has had influence in Stormont, Dublin, London and Brussels. There is a greater appreciation for what manufacturing brings to our economy and the need to cherish and celebrate those individuals and firms which generate work in places where people want to create a home.
